DFL Political Director Mocks President, First Lady for COVID-19 Diagnosis

Alyse Maye Quade, the Political Director of the Minnesota DFL Party, mocked President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for testing positive for COVID-19. Maye Quade liked several tweets mocking the President and First Lady since the news broke about the President and First Lady’s positive test results.

Alyse is the wife of Erin Maye Quade, who was a former Lieutenant Governor candidate in 2018. Erin Maye Quade tweeted that Alyse woke her up in the middle of the night to giddily break the news that the President has COVID-19.

In addition to mocking the President and First Lady, and openly cheering the fact that they tested positive for COVID-19, Alyse Maye Quade liked a tweet directed at Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, in which she was seemingly cheering the fact that Gazelka would be entering quarantine for two weeks.

This comes on the heels of the local outlet City Pages, long known as an outlet willing to do the DFL’s dirty work, having to pull down a story that gleefully celebrated the President testing positive for COVID-19. City Pages  Editor Emily Cassel started the article by saying, “So President Trump and the First Lady have COVID. Man, anyone else just in a really, inexplicably good mood this morning?”

Paired together, the City Pages article and Alyse Maye Quade’s mockery of the President’s diagnosis could point to a troubling trend for Democrats.

Politics.MN reached out to the DFL for comment, but the Communications Director Brian Evans declined to comment.
